This multifloor destination shopping experience is a must visit for all the fashionistas out there. It’s fun wandering around looking at all the cool items on display. However check the prices before you head up to the till as, depending on floor you’re on, you may get a biot of a shock.
This place is my favorite shop in Shoreditch, if not the whole of London. They carry a great selection of men's and women's fashion, as well as a tonne of great homewares. Everything has a slight japanese streetwear vibe, if that’s your sort of thing.
This covered market is a great place to visit at the weekend. As well as the market traders themselves, there are a tonne of great designer oriented shops, cafes and bars built around the outside of the market. Combine a visit to Spitalfields with a wander round Brick Lane and Columbia Road flower market for some excellent Sunday flaneuring.
If you enjoy reading Monocle magazine, it’s worth checking out their flagship store for all manner of beautifully crafted goods. Or just grab a coffee and the latest edition of the magazine.
This organic cafe and market is where the rich and wealthy of West London send their butlers to do their weekly shop. Think Whole Foods as imagined by the Prince of Wales. For everybody else it’s a lovely place to come for a cuppa, and to marvel at who regularly buys ten pound jars of boysenberry jam
Great donut shop on Brick Lane and Soho. If I’m not near Bread Ahead, this is my goto donut place.
Cool clothing store with a strong Japanese workwear aesthetic.
There are a tonne of great Paul Smith shops in London, like the tiny one by Bermondsey Market, or the Flagship Store by Covent Garden. However my favorite one, just based on the space, is in Notting Hill. If you’re looking for an understated Suite, or a well tailored shirt, this is my go to destination.
This multi-floor department store is one of the shopping wonders on London. All the great brands you love under one roof. However it’s the food hall where things really shine. So grab a selection of amazing breads, cheeses, anti-pasta—maybe add a small bottle of champagne for good luck, go to the nearest park, and have yourself an indulgent picnic.
Do you like cheese? If you do, this is the one place to come to in London. If not, what’s on earth is wrong with you (Vegans need not answer that question - steer clear of this place!).
A great magazine and book shop specialising in art and design related topics. They have a few stores dotted around London. It’s a great place to find quirky gifts, or buy some essential reading for the journey home.
Contemporary art gallery with 3 or 4 branches around London. Always have interesting work on so worth popping by if you happen to be in the area.
Shop, cafe, bar and restaurant showcasing the best of Japanese food, design and culture.
Another AWESOME bookshop down a tiny sidestreet in Shoreditch. I dare you to pop in and come out empty handed.
A great comic books store in the heart of Soho’s red light district.
I’m a tea drinker so can’t personally attest to the coffee here, but many knowledgeable and learned friends tell me they make a great cup of joe. As this coffee shop is in the heart of Silicon Roundabout, expect to see lots of start-up folks doing interviews, discussing their go-to-market strategy, or schmoozing their VC friends. It’s about as SF as London gets.
Another great, albeit tiny coffee shop. One of the first antipodia coffee spots, to kick off the Flat White Revolution. Due to the location, you find lots of folks having business meetings here. However it’s more corporate intrapreneurs playing at being start-ups, than actual startups.
Classing hipster coffee shop, that wouldn’t look out of place on Valencia Street in The Mission. If you can’t get a seat, The Department for Coffee and Social Affairs is just over the road. Or try Good & Proper Tea if you favour the leaf to the bean.
Nice cafe/bakery in the heart of Victoria Park. There are other outposts around town but this one is my favourite. They do a lively Sri Lankan inspired breakfast on the weekends as well.
This bike themed coffee shop is a great place to hang, especially for all the MAMiLs out there. As well as coffee, they do pretty good food, and is a popular place to get a couple of hours of work done.
