Their embroidery, though rooted in Thailand’s artisanal traditions, has evolved into a modern craft. Instead of traditional motifs, you’ll find fun, colourful, farm inspired designs on dresses, tops, pants etc that are not just innovative but such an outpour of the womens’ imagination. Foxes, giraffes, and cats, cottages, portraits and dogs, cycles, elephants and flowers- all hand embroidered in colourful styles to then be sold off to a customer. Hence, if you’re looking for unique, high-quality handmade goods, this market is the place to be. Every piece tells a story, and the warm, friendly vendors are more than happy to share the how they make what they make, right in front of you.💙 Beyond the crafts, the market is filled with food stalls offering a wide array of delicious street foods, from Thai classics like Pad Thai and Khao Soi (it comes from this region so you are not to go home without trying!) and mango sticky rice to lesser-known regional delights and vegan food. 🍱 In many ways, this market is a reflection of Chiang Mai’s rich cultural tapestry, where the past and present blend seamlessly.
