Spooky Szn
If you love Halloween as much as me, you're in good company: here are all my favs for this season.
Book Recommendations: Spooky Szn π»
Some of my fave thriller and mystery books. Me and other forty young women curated this Stack, so I know it's golden.

I love The Housemaid because it's not written in a far off reality in a different world. It's the real world. And that's much more terrifying.

Girls will be girls will be girls. And some times girls do disturbing things in secluded places that may or may not look like a cult is taking over a prestigious university and offing people for sport. Some times.

Thrilling, indeed. This was a page-turner for me and I loved every second of it! A book-club pick for our Halloween special, this turned out to be one of the favorite books of 2023.

If you're scared of Shakespeare this one will knock your socks off. But also if you're scared of young, impulsive senior students with too much time in their hands. I know I would be.

This one's for those who say 'the book is better than the show' -- I hear you! But in this case the show is great, too. Though the book, by all means, is definitely darker.
Movie Recommendations: Spooky Szn π
Best movies to kick back with this October (or all year long, if that's your thing) π»

Like any good A24 film, this one leaves you with a bit of a 'wtf did I just watch' feeling - but in the best way. Killer cast (literally), artful direction choices, and suspenseful to no end. Perfect for a thriller night

Sign me up for anything with Kathryn Newton ππΌ More up the comedy-horror alley, this movie packs a good dose of horror and suspense, whilst being hilariously dry and witty.
Have you seen that TikTok trend where people run around with their cats to see if they would survive in the Quiet Place universe? Well, this is that universe. My cats and I wouldn't make it.

Even more gruesome than the first one, this second part of the series goes so much deeper into the story and hooks you for good in the Shadyside mystery. Starring the amazing Sadie Sink (iykyk) and Emily Rudd.

One of the best horror films that's come out in recent years. From the plot to the twists, it's a must watch in the month of October.
Wish I could tell you more about this movie, but some part of my brain blocked it out as soon as I was done watching it. Absolutely thrilling and terrifying. Would watch again if I wasn't so scared of it.
Playlist Recommendations: Spooky Szn β οΈ
From a chill costume party to the... ahem... more ritualistic stuff of Halloween night, here are some tunes to keep you going.
I feel like you could get the aux cable at a party (are they still using that? Maybe I'm just old) and be the MVP if you play this. Just sayin'.
From one indie lover to another: you're welcome. Enjoy the mulled wine in November by the fire with this in the background. Ultimate fairy vibes guaranteed.
I feel like a lot of playlists out there claim to be the 'ultimate' this or 'ultimate' that - but this one's really it. The ultimate spooky vibes playlist.
I feel like the title is eerily specific and tells you all you need to know.
For the more alternative crowd, this one's definitely a β¨choiceβ¨ of a playlist. A lil bit of everything sinister.
