It is very important to help your puppy learn from a young age that the crate is not a punishment, it is a safe space for them to chill. This is critical for your own pet or for foster puppies in particular.
Food and verbal encouragement are great ways to do this! For the first introduction, drop a couple pieces of kibble into the crate and allow the puppy to find the food.
